Little, Sr., 804-461-9497, <a href=\"mailto:brian.little@vdh.virginia.gov\">brian.little@vdh.virginia.gov<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>RHHD Highlights 2024 Annual Report for National Public Health Week<br \/>\n<\/strong><em>National Public Health Week is April 7 \u2013 13<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>RICHMOND, Va. <\/strong>\u2014 The Richmond and Henrico Health Districts (RHHD) celebrate <a href=\"https:\/\/nphw.org\/\"><strong>National Public<\/strong><\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/nphw.org\/\"><strong>Health Week<\/strong><\/a> April 7 \u2013 13 by highlighting public health accomplishments and services. RHHD\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/content\/uploads\/sites\/119\/2025\/03\/2024-Annual-Report-RHHD.pdf\"><strong>2024<\/strong><\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/content\/uploads\/sites\/119\/2025\/03\/2024-Annual-Report-RHHD.pdf\"><strong>Annual Report<\/strong><\/a> provides community members with updates from its teams that focus on Clinical Services; Community Health; Environmental Health and Safety; Population Health; and more.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe dedicated public health professionals at Richmond and Henrico Health Districts work tirelessly to protect and improve the health of our communities,\u201d said RHHD Director Elaine Perry, M.D. \u201cWe celebrate the<\/p>\n<p>accomplishments of the past year and look forward to advancing this important work in the years ahead.\u201d In 2024, RHHD:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Received responses from 1,126 Richmond and Henrico Residents who completed the 2024 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/richmond-city\/cha\/\"><strong>Community Health Assessment Survey<\/strong><\/a> (CHA). Community members can read the full <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/content\/uploads\/sites\/119\/2025\/04\/2024-Richmond-and-Henrico-CHA.pdf\"><strong>CHA Report<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n<li>Vaccinated 1,539 students at 60 in-school 7<sup>th<\/sup> and 12<sup>th<\/sup> grade <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/richmond-city\/childhood-immunization\/\"><strong>vaccination<\/strong><\/a> events in partnership with Richmond Public Schools and Henrico County Public Schools.<\/li>\n<li>Provided health <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/richmond-city\/programs\/new-americans-refugee-services\/\"><strong>services for newcomers<\/strong><\/a> from over 14<\/li>\n<li>Reached 9,000 community members through Community Health Workers\u2019 attendance at Outreach and Community Events.<\/li>\n<li>Directly observed 2,608 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/richmond-city\/tuberculosis-program\/\"><strong>tuberculosis treatments<\/strong>.<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Enrolled 50 new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/richmond-city\/stihiv-prevention-program\/\"><strong>PrEP<\/strong><\/a> PrEP is a medication that reduces a person&#8217;s chances of getting human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), the virus that causes acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS).<\/li>\n<li>Completed 4,557 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/richmond-city\/food-safety\/\"><strong>food service inspections<\/strong><\/a> throughout Richmond and<\/li>\n<li>Distributed 991 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/richmond-city\/opioids\/\"><strong>Narcan<\/strong><\/a> kits (each containing two doses of the opioid overdose reversal medication) at community events and encounters (10\/1\/23-9\/30\/2024).<\/li>\n<li>Conducted 4,362 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/richmond-city\/stihiv-prevention-program\/\"><strong>Family Planning and STI<\/strong><\/a> clinic<\/li>\n<li>Provided 441 COVID-19, flu, and mpox <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/richmond-city\/immunization-program\/\"><strong>vaccinations<\/strong><\/a> at mobile<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>RHHD will be celebrating National Public Health Week on social media and on Well Read, the RHHD blog, at <a href=\"http:\/\/rhhd.gov\/blog\"><strong>rhhd.gov\/blog<\/strong>.<\/a> Visit <a href=\"https:\/\/rhhd.gov\/\"><strong>rhhd.gov<\/strong><\/a> for more health and safety information.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"># # #<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>April 7, 2025 Media Contact: Brian C.
