By joining the <u><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/mrc\/\">Virginia Medical Reserve Corps<\/a><\/u>\u00a0(MRC), you can make a lasting impact on public health and emergency preparedness right here at home.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGiving Tuesday reminds us that the greatest gift we can offer is our time. Volunteering with the Medical Reserve Corps strengthens the health and resilience of our entire community,\u201d said Rappahannock-Rapidan Health District Director J. Carr, M.D. \u201cI\u2019m grateful for every neighbor who steps forward to serve.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The MRC is a statewide network of volunteers who partner with Rappahannock-Rapidan Health District year\u2011round and step in during disasters and emergencies. Volunteers come from all walks of life. No medical degree required. Whether you\u2019re a retiree looking to stay active, a student seeking service hours, or simply someone who wants to give back, there\u2019s a place for you in the MRC.<\/p>\n<p>As an MRC volunteer, you\u2019ll receive free lifesaving <u><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/mrc\/training\/\">training<\/a><\/u>, gain valuable skills, and connect with new friends while serving your community. From health fairs to emergency response efforts, volunteers help keep families safe and healthy.<\/p>\n<p>In Rappahannock-Rapidan Health District, the MRC volunteers:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Support vaccination events for flu, COVID\u201119, and back\u2011to\u2011school immunizations.<\/li>\n<li>Staff shelters and mobile clinics during storms and other emergencies.<\/li>\n<li>Teach CPR, AED use, and bleeding control skills.<\/li>\n<li>Assist with opioid response by leading Revive! training sessions.<\/li>\n<li>Staff first aid tents at marathons, races, and community celebrations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This Giving Tuesday, share your time and talents with the MRC.
