RHHD\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/content\/uploads\/sites\/119\/RHHD-2025-Annual-Report-508.pdf\">2025 Annual Report<\/a> provides community members with updates from its teams that focus on Clinical Services, Community Health, Protection and Response, Population Health, and more.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNational Public Health Week is a great time to acknowledge and celebrate the amazing public health workers at the Richmond and Henrico Health Districts,\u201d said RHHD Director Elaine Perry, M.D. \u201cOur Annual Report presents an overview of some of their accomplishments, but no single report can fully capture the impact our staff makes in communities, clinics, and schools.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In 2025, RHHD:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Continued its Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP), partnering with community leaders to address chronic disease, mental health (including substance use), and community safety and violence. Community members can read the full 2024 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/content\/uploads\/sites\/119\/2025\/04\/2024-Richmond-and-Henrico-CHA.pdf\">Community Health Assessment Report<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/richmond-city\/childhood-immunization\/\">Vaccinated<\/a> 14,658 seventh and 12<sup>th<\/sup> grade students<\/li>\n<li>Provided 325 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/richmond-city\/sample-page\/programs\/new-americans-refugee-services\/\">health screenings for newcomers<\/a> from nine countries<\/li>\n<li>Provided Community Health Workers at 185 community outreach events<\/li>\n<li>Managed and treated 27 active <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/richmond-city\/tuberculosis-program\/\">tuberculosis<\/a> cases and 269 latent tuberculosis infections<\/li>\n<li>Enrolled 90 new pre-exposure prophylaxis (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/richmond-city\/stihiv-prevention-program\/\">PrEP)<\/a> PrEP is a medication that reduces a person&#8217;s chances of getting HIV, the virus that causes AIDS.<\/li>\n<li>Served 285 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/richmond-city\/healthy-childbirth-and-infancy\/#maternity\">Maternity Navigation<\/a> clients<\/li>\n<li>Served an average of 8,781 monthly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/richmond-city\/wic\/\">Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children<\/a> (WIC) clients<\/li>\n<li>Completed 1,154 investigations to prevent the spread of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/richmond-city\/stihiv-prevention-program\/#hiv\">HIV<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/syphilis\/\">syphilis<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Investigated 153 infectious disease outbreaks<\/li>\n<li>Formalized plans to better identify and alert the public to high West Nile Virus activity<\/li>\n<li>Completed 4,952 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/richmond-city\/food-safety\/\">food service inspections<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Provided 1,995 Medical Reserve Corps volunteer hours (223 during Winter Storm Blair and Richmond Water Crisis)<\/li>\n<li>Lead 80 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/richmond-city\/sample-page\/programs\/adolescent-health\/\">Adolescent Health<\/a> education sessions<\/li>\n<li>Conducted 3,490 wellness checks through the Trauma Healing Response Network<\/li>\n<li>Distributed 560 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/richmond-city\/opioids\/#oop-naloxone\">naloxone<\/a> kits, 260 fentanyl test strips and 100 xylazine test strips<\/li>\n<li>Conducted 4,216 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/richmond-city\/stihiv-prevention-program\/\">Family Planning and STI<\/a> clinic visits<\/li>\n<li>Provided an Outreach Coordinator at an average of six events each month<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Please fill out this <a href=\"https:\/\/redcap.vdh.virginia.gov\/redcap\/surveys\/?s=XNNCDA8N3WNDKJWY\">online form<\/a> to request RHHD presence at a community outreach event.
