The Crater Health District (CHD) is encouraging men to use available health programs and preventive services to better understand their health and reduce long-term health risks.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMen continue to face higher risks for preventable conditions like heart disease, diabetes, and certain cancers. Men\u2019s Health Month is a great reminder that early detection and preventative care save lives,\u201d said Crater District Health Director, Dr. Alton Hart, Jr.<\/p>\n<p>The Crater Health District offers programs and services that support <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/vdhlivewell\/men\/\">men\u2019s health<\/a>, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Vaccination services:<\/strong> Immunizations for adults, including tetanus, hepatitis B, influenza, COVID-19, HPV, and other routine <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/vaccines-adults\/recommended-vaccines\/index.html#cdc_generic_section_1-all-adults-need-these-routine-vaccines\">vaccines<\/a> that help protect long-term health.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Sexual health services and STI prevention:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/disease-prevention\/testing-hepatitis-hiv-and-stds\/\">HIV\/STI testing<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/disease-prevention\/testing-hepatitis-hiv-and-stds\/\">sexual health resources<\/a>, and free condoms to help reduce the spread of sexually transmitted infections across Virginia communities. CHD offers a Men\u2019s Sexual Health Clinic on the 2<sup>nd<\/sup> and 4<sup>th<\/sup> Mondays from 5:00 p.m. \u2013 7:00 p.m. at the Petersburg Health Department. Call 804-863-1652 to schedule an appointment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Crater Health District also wants men to get regular checkups and take care of their health. Start today. Even small changes can help you feel better and stay healthy.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Check your blood pressure<\/strong> and get regular health checkups.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Talk to a friend, family member or doctor<\/strong> about your health goals. They can help you stay on track.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Be active. <\/strong>Try to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/healthy-communities\/physical-activity\/\">walk<\/a> every day, even if it is just for 20 to 30 minutes.
