New FRONT DOOR Platform Connects Uninsured Residents in South Hampton Roads to Free and Affordable Healthcare<\/strong><\/p>\n

NORFOLK, Va. \u2014 A new online resource launched today to help uninsured adults in South Hampton Roads quickly find free and low-cost healthcare services. Called FRONT DOOR, the platform connects users with local medical, dental, behavioral health, and prescription assistance programs based on their individual needs.<\/p>\n

Finding affordable healthcare without insurance can be overwhelming. FRONT DOOR simplifies the process by asking users a few brief questions and matching them with the most appropriate local clinic or community resource.<\/p>\n

The platform was developed through the Healthcare Safety Net Collaborative, an initiative led by the Norfolk Department of Public Health in partnership with local healthcare providers and community organizations.<\/p>\n

The launch comes at a critical time as Medicaid eligibility changes and coverage renewals are causing many residents to lose health insurance and seek affordable healthcare options.<\/p>\n

“Over the next year, thousands of people in our community may find themselves without health insurance,” said Dr. Susan Girois, director of the Norfolk Department of Public Health. “That’s why the FRONT DOOR platform is so important. By connecting people with nearby safety-net healthcare services, we can help ensure that no one misses a medication refill, preventive screening, or routine medical visit simply because they lack health insurance. Our goal is to make it easier for every uninsured adult to find the care they need, when they need it.”<\/p>\n

Residents can access the free service beginning today by visiting http:\/\/www.FRONT-DOOR.org<\/a> and completing a brief online questionnaire.<\/p>\n
