{"id":8510,"date":"2022-01-31T11:31:36","date_gmt":"2022-01-31T16:31:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/news\/?page_id=8510"},"modified":"2022-01-31T11:31:36","modified_gmt":"2022-01-31T16:31:36","slug":"chesterfield-health-district-community-covid-19-testing-center-to-accept-walk-ins","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/news\/public-relations-contacts\/archived-news-releases\/2022-regional-news-releases\/chesterfield-health-district-community-covid-19-testing-center-to-accept-walk-ins\/","title":{"rendered":"Chesterfield Health District Community COVID-19 Testing Center to Accept Walk-Ins"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>January 31, 2022<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>Media Contact: <\/strong>Brookie Crawford, <a href=\"mailto:brookie.crawford@vdh.virginia.gov\">brookie.crawford@vdh.virginia.gov<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>Chesterfield Health District Community COVID-19 Testing Center to Accept Walk-Ins<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>CHESTERFIELD, Va. \u2013 Effective today, the Chesterfield Health District\u2019s Community Testing Center (CTC) at the Chesterfield Fairgrounds will begin accepting walk-ins.<\/p>\n<p>The Chesterfield CTC, located at 10300 Courthouse Rd., provides Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) testing for COVID-19 at no cost to the public. The CTC is open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>Walk-ins will be prioritized based on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.governor.virginia.gov\/newsroom\/news-releases\/2022\/january\/name-923222-en.html\">governor\u2019s testing guidelines<\/a> and will be accommodated as supplies and time allow. The last walk-in will be accepted at 5:30 p.m. Please enter the fairgrounds through Gate 4.<\/p>\n<p>Testing is available for everyone ages 3 months and older. However, a parent or guardian must accompany anyone under 18 years old. To reduce wait time schedule an appointment by visit <a href=\"https:\/\/vase.vdh.virginia.gov\/testingappointment\">vase.vdh.virginia.gov\/testingappointment<\/a>. Testing will take place in a heated tent; please dress appropriately for the weather.<\/p>\n<p>PCR test results are usually available within a few days, and are very effective in detecting an active COVID-19 infection, even if asymptomatic.\u00a0 CTC test results will be automatically sent via text or email message to individuals being tested based on the information provided in the appointment system.<\/p>\n<p>To protect yourself and healthcare workers, <strong><u>wear a cloth face covering or mask<\/u><\/strong>. Keep at least six feet of distance between yourself and other people at all times. Be sure to tell the testing providers if you have any symptoms of COVID-19, including fever, deep cough or shortness of breath, or believe that you may have been exposed to someone with COVID-19.<\/p>\n<p>VDH recommends that the following people be tested for COVID-19:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>People who have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/coronavirus\/2019-ncov\/symptoms-testing\/symptoms.html\">symptoms of COVID-19<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>People who have come into <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/coronavirus\/2019-ncov\/php\/contact-tracing\/contact-tracing-plan\/appendix.html#contact\">close contact<\/a> with someone with COVID-19 should be tested to check for infection at least 5 days after they last had close contact with someone with COVID-19. The date of the last close contact is considered day 0.<\/li>\n<li>People who are not <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/coronavirus\/2019-ncov\/vaccines\/stay-up-to-date.html?CDC_AA_refVal=https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/coronavirus\/2019-ncov\/vaccines\/fully-vaccinated-guidance.html\">up to date with their COVID-19 vaccines<\/a> who are prioritized for expanded <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/coronavirus\/2019-ncov\/hcp\/testing-overview.html\">community screening<\/a> for COVID-19.<\/li>\n<li>People regardless of vaccination status who have been asked or referred to get testing by their school, workplace, healthcare provider, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/publichealthgateway\/healthdirectories\/healthdepartments.html\">state<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/tribal\/tribes-organizations-health\/tribal_groups.html\">tribal<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.naccho.org\/membership\/lhd-directory\">local,<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/publichealthgateway\/healthdirectories\/healthdepartments.html\">territorial health department<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>People who plan to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/coronavirus\/coronavirus\/travel-to-areas-with-widespread-ongoing-community-spread\/\">travel<\/a> or who have recently returned from travel with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/coronavirus\/2019-ncov\/vaccines\/fully-vaccinated.html\">some exceptions<\/a> for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/coronavirus\/2019-ncov\/vaccines\/fully-vaccinated.html#vaccinated\">fully vaccinated<\/a> people<\/li>\n<li>If possible, people who participate in activities that are higher risk for COVID-19 exposure (e.g. attending large events where social distancing is not possible, or being in crowded indoor settings).<\/li>\n<li>If possible, people who plan to visit someone at high-risk for developing severe COVID-19.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Please reserve hospital emergency rooms and rescue squads for medical emergencies. If you\u2019re seeking a COVID test and it is not an emergency, please utilize VDH\u2019s community testing events or a retail.
