{"id":9283,"date":"2022-07-14T13:23:14","date_gmt":"2022-07-14T17:23:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/news\/?page_id=9283"},"modified":"2022-07-14T13:23:14","modified_gmt":"2022-07-14T17:23:14","slug":"during-tracking-awareness-week-virginia-department-of-health-receives-grant-to-create-new-virginia-environmental-health-tracking-program","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/news\/public-relations-contacts\/archived-news-releases\/2022-news-releases\/during-tracking-awareness-week-virginia-department-of-health-receives-grant-to-create-new-virginia-environmental-health-tracking-program\/","title":{"rendered":"During Tracking Awareness Week, Virginia Department of Health Receives Grant to Create New Virginia Environmental Health Tracking Program"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE &#8212; <\/strong>July 14, 2022<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>Media Contact:\u00a0 <\/strong>Brookie Crawford, <a href=\"mailto:brookie.crawford@vdh.virginia.gov\">brookie.crawford@vdh.virginia.gov<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>During Tracking Awareness Week, Virginia Department of Health Receives Grant to Create New Virginia Environmental Health Tracking Program<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>RICHMOND, VA<\/strong> \u2013 The Virginia Department of Health\u2019s (VDH) announced today, during <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/nceh\/tracking\/taw.html\">Tracking Awareness Week<\/a>, that it received a grant from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/nceh\/tracking\/index.html\">Center for Disease Control and Prevention<\/a> (CDC) to create an environmental epidemiology program.<\/p>\n<p>Starting in August, VDH will receive $635,000 per year for five years to build environmental epidemiology in the Commonwealth through the creation of a new Virginia Environmental Health Tracking Program (VEHTP).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis grant is a big win for VDH,\u201d said<strong> State Health Commissioner Colin M.
