The Super-Size Clinic Opened Tuesday
(**Not Accepting People From other Counties)
(March 23, 2021)
A Community Vaccination Center (CVC), located at the old Gander Mountain building near Potomac Mills Mall, began vaccinating Prince William Health District (PWHD) residents and also people who work in the health district. Prince William County, Manassas City and, Manassas Park make up the PWHD.
The state says the CVC will do an estimated 3,000 doses a day. This week it will operate five days a week (Tuesday–Saturday).
Recently CVCs opened in Chesterfield/Petersburg, Danville, and Portsmouth areas. Additional CVCs will open across Virginia in the coming weeks. The areas chosen for the CVCs have large vulnerable populations and populations with higher rates of COVID-19 illnesses and death. According to VDEM, these sites were further identified using a health equity lens.
These large-scale vaccination clinics were an initiative planned from the beginning of the COVID-19 crisis to support communities when more vaccines were made available. They are organized by the Virginia Department of Emergency Management (VDEM) with funding from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
Those vaccinated at the CVC will come from the state’s pre-registration list. If you are not pre-registered, now is the time to get registered at VACCINATE.VIRGINIA.GOV or call 1-877-VAX-IN-VA.
