Every meal and every gift should be joyous, and paying attention to recall notices can help!<\/p>\n<p>Recalls let consumers know if there have been possible illnesses or injuries associated with items they\u2019ve purchased.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How do I find out about recalls?\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There are lots of good resources for tracking recalls:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Food recalls appear on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.foodsafety.gov\/recalls-and-outbreaks\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">foodsafety.gov<\/a>, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fda.gov\/safety\/recalls-market-withdrawals-safety-alerts\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Food and Drug Administration<\/a>, and the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/outbreaks\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CDC<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Toy safety features on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.saferproducts.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">SaferProducts.gov<\/a>\u00a0and through the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cpsc.gov\/Safety-Education\/Safety-Education-Centers\/Toys\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Consumer Product Safety Commission<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Many local news sources will also highlight recalls in your area.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>What do I do if I\u2019ve bought a recalled product?\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Most importantly, do not eat or use the product!<\/li>\n<li>Many recalls will include information about returning the food or toy for a refund.<\/li>\n<li>If the product can\u2019t be returned, dispose of it safely. Some recalls will include instructions.<\/li>\n<li>In the case of a food recall, clean surfaces, drawers, or utensils that came into contact with the food.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\">\n<strong>There\u2019s so much to consider with toy safety! How do I keep the kids in my life safe? \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\">Recall or no, follow\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/nphic.org\/news\/featured-topics\/552-december-is-safe-toys-and-gifts-month\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">these tips<\/a>\u00a0to ensure all holiday gifts are safe for kiddos:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li lang=\"EN-US\" xml:lang=\"EN-US\">Make sure any toy you buy is age appropriate. Children under 3 should not use toys with small parts that can easily go into a mouth.
