It can also pass through openings in your foundation such as unsealed sumps, drains, joints, or cracks. Radon exposure may contribute to 21,000 cases of lung cancer each year in the United States, including almost 700 cases per year in Virginia. If you\u2019re taking steps to breathe easy in other ways, radon testing is an important part of your lung health toolbox.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:276}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">How do I test for radon?\u00a0<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:276}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">January is <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.epa.gov\/radon\/national-radon-action-month-information\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">National Radon Action Month<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"none\">, and it is a great time to test for radon!\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:276}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">Community members can order short-term, do-it-yourself radon test kits from the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) for a $4 shipping fee.
