Vaccines are safe, effective and the best way to protect yourself and your loved ones from certain diseases. Vaccines may be required for work, school, travel or other activities.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/law.lis.virginia.gov\/vacode\/title22.1\/chapter14\/section22.1-271.2\/\">Code of Virginia<\/a>\u00a0requires children entering daycare, public and private schools to give proof of vaccination before enrolling in school. These vaccines should be given based on the schedule recommended by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/vaccines\/hcp\/imz-schedules\/child-adolescent-age.html\">CDC<\/a>),\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.aap.org\/en\/patient-care\/immunizations\/?srsltid=AfmBOoptwMDOXBL-q_zC4TDX0Sx6qdxKbB91hK2fGNSBDJTt0c_rYn9O\">American Academy of Pediatrics<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.aafp.org\/family-physician\/patient-care\/prevention-wellness\/immunizations-vaccines\/immunization-schedules\/birth-through-age-18-immunization-schedule.html\">American Academy of Family Physicians<\/a>. Parents and guardians can view the Virginia childhood vaccine schedule on this\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/downloads.aap.org\/AAP\/PDF\/AAP-Immunization-Schedule.pdf\">PDF<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cVaccines are one of the most powerful tools we have to protect our little ones from some serious diseases,\u201d said Richmond and Henrico Health Districts Nurse Manager Sarah Widmer. \u201cNow is a great time to make sure your child has the vaccinations they need to start school on time and stay safe. VDH\u2019s new vaccination record portals make finding your family\u2019s information quick and easy. Knowing your child\u2019s vaccination history helps you and your doctor keep them on track with their vaccines.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Virginia residents can now securely access their vaccination records through confidential\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/immunization\/request-immunization-record\/\">electronic portals<\/a>\u00a0managed by Virginia Department of Health (VDH). These portals allow you to view, download, and print vaccination records from a home computer or a mobile device. Records of vaccinations given many years ago or outside of Virginia may not be available in VDH portals.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Use the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/myirmobile.com\/\">MyIR Portal<\/a>\u00a0to download your family\u2019s vaccination history.<\/li>\n<li>Use the upgraded\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/vase.vdh.virginia.gov\/vdhapps\/f?p=545:1\">COVID\/MMR Vaccination Record Portal<\/a>\u00a0to access COVID or MMR vaccination records.<\/li>\n<li>Watch\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=4ayyhUKrH-U\">this video<\/a>\u00a0to learn more about the user experience, key features, and benefits of this new system.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Knowing your vaccination history can help you and your doctor make informed decisions about future vaccinations for your family. Visit\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/richmond-city\/primary-care-richmond-and-henrico-health-districts\/\">rhhd.gov\/connect-pc<\/a>\u00a0to find a local primary care provider with available vaccination appointments.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/immunization\/vvfc\/\">Virginia Vaccines for Children<\/a>\u00a0(VVFC) providers offer no-cost vaccines to children (younger than 19 years of age) who are uninsured or underinsured; Medicaid-eligible or Medicaid-enrolled; and\/or American Indian or Alaska Native. Search for a VVFC provider near you by using\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/rhhd.gov\/vfc\">rhhd.gov\/vfc<\/a><strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>RHHD offers vaccination appointments for children and adults at its\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/richmond-city\/clinical-services\/\">Cary Street<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/henrico.gov\/locations\/east-health-clinic\/\">Henrico East<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/henrico.gov\/locations\/human-services\/\">Henrico West<\/a>\u00a0clinics. Call 804-205-3500 to make an appointment. Bilingual-in-Spanish staff is available at all locations.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/vaccines-pregnancy\/recommended-vaccines\/index.html\">Pregnant people<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/vaccines-pregnancy\/about\/vaccines-family-caregivers.html\">family and caregivers<\/a>\u00a0of newborns need vaccinations to protect babies from certain diseases.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/immunization\/vvfa\/\">Virginia Vaccines for Adults<\/a>\u00a0(VVFA) providers offer no-cost vaccinations to adults who are uninsured or underinsured. People receiving VVFA vaccinations may be required to pay an admin fee, usually between $10 and $20.
