The Western Tidewater Medical Reserve Corps is a group of volunteer health care professionals and community members trained to respond and assist with public health crises in the counties of Isle of Wight and Southampton and cities of Suffolk and Franklin, Virginia.\u00a0 This unit is one of more than 1,000 units that are part of the national Medical Reserve Corps program under the direction of the Office of the U. S. Surgeon General and 1 of 31 in the Commonwealth of Virginia.<\/p>\n

The Western Tidewater Medical Reserve Corps recruits practicing, retired or otherwise employed medical professionals, as well as community members with non-medical skills.\u00a0 Physicians, pharmacists, nurses, epidemiologists and paramedics are just a sampling of the medical community who are WTMRC members.\u00a0 Clergy, interpreters, sign language interpreters, administrative assistants, volunteer coordinators and all other members of our community are also encouraged to consider becoming a part of the WTMRC.<\/p>\n

Membership Requirements<\/h2>\n

Membership in the Western Tidewater Medical Reserve Corps requires:
\nA. \u00a0 Completed Volunteer Application in the Virginia Volunteer Health System<\/a><\/strong>
\nB. \u00a0 Liability, HIPAA and background check completed <\/strong>
\nC.\u00a0\u00a0 Volunteer Orientation and Initial Training<\/strong><\/p>\n

Once the initial orientation and training is completed, the WTMRC member will be able to attend a variety of training opportunities that are offered during the year.<\/p>\n

Please take a moment to review our training schedule, read our newsletter and\/or register for service.\u00a0 We appreciate your time and interest and hope to have you as an active Medical Reserve Corps member in the very near future.<\/p>\n
