New Acronyms

Existing field staff who assess compliance for Vaccines for Children (VFC) and Vaccines for Adults (VFA) are now called Virginia Vaccines Quality Assurance (VVQA) consultants. Virginia Vaccine Supply and Assessment (VVSA) oversees Virginia’s VFC and VFA programs. The Vaccines for Children (VFC) and Vaccines for Adults (VFA) websites have been updated.

New Medicaid HMOs

Virginia Medicaid health plans are changing. INTotal Health is now owned by United Health Care. Virginia Premier is collaborating with Kaiser Permanente.
When verifying eligibility, check the effective dates for the plans. The VFC Eligibility & Health Plans guide has been updated to reflect these changes: http://www.vdh.virginia.gov/content/uploads/sites/11/2016/04/VVFCEligiblity.pdf

Adolescent Toolkit

On August 24, CDC published National, Regional, State, and Selected Local Area Vaccination Coverage Among Adolescents Aged 13–17 Years. Vaccination rates for some adolescent vaccines remain below Healthy People 2020 goals, leaving millions of adolescents vulnerable to serious health risks. A toolkit which offers a selection of resources and insight into activities and strategies to enhance and improve the delivery of vaccinations throughout adolescence, from middle school to college is located here: https://www.immunizationmanagers.org/page/adolescents

Stakeholder Survey

In order to remain vigilant and address the continually evolving landscape of immunization service delivery and immunization coverage levels for all Virginians, the state of Virginia is actively pursuing the development of an immunization coalition. We are collecting stakeholder feedback to assess interest in participating in a coalition in Virginia. We appreciate your feedback and thank you for your time and effort completing this quick survey. Please be sure and provide your name and contact information at the end of the survey if you are interested in being a part of this dynamic new endeavor. Access the survey at this link: https://redcap.vdh.virginia.gov/redcap/surveys/?s=3FNC9PN733
