Eastern Shore Medical Reserve Corps (ESMRC)

Welcome to the Eastern Shore Reserve Corps web page.

The Eastern Shore Medical Reserve Corps (ESMRC) is a group of volunteer health care professionals and community members trained to respond and assist with public health crises in the counties of Accomack and Northampton and the Town of Chincoteague. The Eastern Shore Health District established a district Medical Reserve Corps in winter of 2005.

Eastern Shore Reserve Corps

Everyone is encouraged to volunteer. The Eastern Shore MRC is recruiting medical professionals, as well as community members without medical experience. We need people with a variety of skills including:

  • Practicing or retired medical professionals such as doctors, nurses, pharmacists, dentists, veterinarians, and mental health counselors
  • People who speak another language (including sign language)
  • Counselors and Clergy members
  • Filling out paper work for clients
  • Assisting with children or the elderly
  • Directing people, supplies and parking lot traffic

ESMRC Membership

We welcome you to join the Eastern Shore Medical Reserve Corps.

Signing up for ESMRC membership is easy and the time commitment is minimal. Potential members need to submit a completed application, including a copy of their medical licensure (if applicable). New members need to attend an orientation or complete training on-line. After completing the orientation, ESMRC members are requested to attend 2-3 hours of training annually. Those ESMRC members who have completed the orientation will be offered the opportunity to attend optional trainings throughout the year.

Please take a few minutes to review the training schedule, read the newsletter and complete the application form. Become a member of the ESMRC and help protect Virginia’s Public Health!

Thank you for your time and interest in the Medical Reserve Corps.
