Nutrition Clinic Opens June 21 In Axton For Women, Infants And Children

Open each third Tuesday at Mount Vernon Baptist Church

(AXTON, VA) — The West Piedmont Health District (Virginia Department of Health) will open a satellite clinic for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) beginning June 21, 2011.

The clinic will be held on Tuesday, June 21 from 9 a.m. to noon at Mount Vernon Baptist Church, 7174 Mountain Valley Rd. in Axton, and will continue on the third Tuesday of each month at the same place and time.

WIC helps pregnant women, mothers, infants and young children stay healthy and eat right during times of important growth.

The maximum family income for WIC participants in Virginia is 185% of the poverty level, as established by the U. S. Department of Health and Human Services. A family of four with a combined income of $41,348 or less qualifies for WIC.
