New Employee Spotlight: Jessica Hamilton – Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) Coordinator

We are excited to introduce Jessica Hamilton as the new Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) Coordinator for the Western Tidewater Health District. The MRC currently has more than 250 medical and non-medical volunteers available to support ongoing public health initiatives and emergencies within our communities. Whether manning a first aid tent at a community event or setting up a shelter, the MRC stands ready to help strengthen our community.

Jessica states that one of her goals is to increase the number of MRC volunteers in the Western Tidewater Health District, as well as the number of community outreach events we support. She would like to provide more training opportunities to the MRC volunteers.

Jessica spent her active-duty Air Force career as an aircraft maintenance officer where she had the opportunity to work with some outstanding airmen. Her role was to help them reach their career goals while accomplishing an important mission. This teaching and training experience will help Jessica best match volunteers with their skills and interests. She is excited to help the Virginia Department of Health attract, train, and retain quality volunteers and is excited and humbled to be a part of the Western Tidewater Health District team.
