Reimagining Public Health in Virginia

Public Health Transformation

The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) is embarking on a journey to re-imagine how public health accomplishes its work and optimize how traditional public health entities work together as a network of partners. VDH seeks to lead Virginia’s public health ecosystem in transforming to meet the future state aspiration of Public Health 3.0 (Public Health 3.0: A Call to Action for Public Health to Meet the Challenges of the 21st Century), where cross-sector collaboration is utilized to combat inequity and build healthy communities.

VDH is currently in the process of socializing, refining, and iterating this roadmap with stakeholders at all levels and especially with local health districts and communities, with whom there will be continued conversation about what the strategies, initiatives, and projects defined in this roadmap mean for them, their work, and their communities. This continued iteration will support the roadmap in adapting and aligning to the priorities of the new gubernatorial administration.
