Virginia’s Community Health Forum

Save the Date

We are delighted to announce the dates for Virginia’s Third Community Health Forum which will take place from June 14-15, 2023. The format will be in-person sessions and will be hosted from the Delta Hotel in Virginia Beach.

The Forum will be held under the theme of “taking action for community health improvement.” It will examine the required policy solutions, successful community health projects and multi-sectoral partnerships to address public health and healthcare workforce challenges and strengthen the health-related workforce, by creating change and innovation. We will leverage Virginia’s Plan for Well-Being as a guide to discuss how to best foster community collaboration, enhance data equity, and develop policies and systems to make Virginia the healthiest state in Nation. The outcomes of the Forum will drive problem statements to address policy development using the Public Health Policy Agenda Process.

More information will be posted on the Center of Community Health Improvement website at vdh.virginia.gov/community-health-assessments in the coming weeks.

Abstract Submission

We are now accepting abstracts for poster presentations for the Networking and Poster Session, June 14 2023, from 3:00pm – 3:30pm. Authors are encouraged to submit abstracts on the forum theme — "Using Virginia's Plan for Well-Being to foster community collaboration, enhance data equity, and develop policies and systems to make Virginia the healthiest state in the nation.” — current and emerging public health issues that you have worked on in the past or something you are currently working on in poster format.

Unlike other national conferences that typically request new research, this forum will be used to allow staff to share things that they are currently or have recently worked on. If you attended a conference within the past year, and have a poster available that you believe will be beneficial to public health and healthcare professionals in the commonwealth, we encourage you to submit your abstract!

Abstracts are due by close of business (COB) May 26 and may be submitted here. For general presenter questions, please email kenesha.smith@vdh.virginia.gov.

Virtual Vendor

Virtual VendorIf you would like to be a “virtual vendor”, please prepare *ONE* power-point slide and submit below by COB May 26. The forum planning committee will create a master slide deck with all the vendor slides to be displayed during lunch on the first day of the conference and on the forum website following the event.

The forum planning committee will review ALL slides to ensure appropriate content. Slides are intended to provide education, information, resources, and contact information in relation to public health and healthcare from programs, agencies, and non-profits. Slides with the intention to sell products or promote services for a financial gain will not be included in the virtual vendor slide deck.
