Mount Rogers Health District Offers COVID-19 Testing Before and After Upcoming Holidays

(Marion, Va.) – COVID-19 testing is available at all Mount Rogers Health District offices prior to and after the upcoming December holidays.

“We are all excited that vaccines have given the opportunity to gather together with peace of mind this holiday season,” said Breanne Forbes Hubbard, population health manager. “At the same time, we continue to have high transmission of COVID-19 within our community, and young children are not yet eligible for vaccination. We encourage those with COVID-19 symptoms or risk factors for infection to get tested before and after gathering with loved ones.”

Health departments offer PCR testing, which takes a few days for results to return. To schedule an appointment, call your local health department. Rapid antigen tests are available throughout the community, including at pharmacies and some health care providers. BinaxNOW rapid home tests are available through partnerships with public libraries across the Commonwealth. Participating local libraries are Bland County, Smyth County, and Washington County.

Testing sites can be found at vdh.virginia.gov/coronavirus/protect-yourself/covid-19-testing/covid-19-testing-sites/.
