(SUFFOLK, Va.)— The Virginia Department of Health is no longer recommending an abundance of caution when recreating in the vicinity of Shingle Creek, the confluence of the Nansemond River with Shingle Creek (just below Route 32/Main Street) to the Route 17 Bridge (Bridge Road) crossing of the Nansemond River. (Virginia Beach, Va.) – The Virginia Beach Health Department announced that two residents have tested “presumptive positive” for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). These cases mark the first two cases in the Virginia Beach Health District, and the sixth and seventh cases in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Every Woman’s Life Program Receives Grant Award
Grant to Rappahannock Area Health District Will Help Fund Outreach

(Fredericksburg, Va.) — The Joe and Mary Wilson Community Benefit Fund of Mary Washington Hospital Foundation recently awarded the Rappahannock Area Health District (RAHD) a grant award of $12,400 for RAHD’s Every Woman’s Life (EWL) Program for 2020. The award provides funding for an EWL Outreach Worker who increases awareness about the program in the Rappahannock Region, enrolls women into the program, and increases the number of women who receive screenings. The EWL program helps uninsured, low-income women gain access to free breast and cervical cancer screening services. Screening and early detection reduce death rates, improve treatment options and generally increase survival. more>>
