Two More Vaccination Clinics Added in December

FARMVILLE, Va. – Effective immediately, the Virginia Department of Health’s Piedmont Health District will offer Pfizer BioNTech booster shots for 16 and 17 year olds. Additionally, Piedmont Health District is hosting two more vaccination clinics this month on December 20 from 4 to 6 p.m. following the testing event at the Prince Edward-Farmville Youth Association gymnasium located at 2750 Layne St. in Farmville and December 28 from 8 to 11 a.m. at the Kenridge Emergency Squad located at 915 E. 5th Ave. in Kenbridge.

The Pfizer BioNTech booster vaccine can be obtained by anyone 16 and older at least six months from the date of their second mRNA (Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna) COVID-19 vaccine or at least two months from the date of their Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine.

The Moderna or Johnson & Johnson booster vaccine can be obtained by anyone 18 and older at least six months from the date of their second mRNA (Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna) COVID-19 vaccine or at least two months from the date of their Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine.

“Piedmont Health District is excited to offer the opportunity for 16 and 17 year olds to get their COVID-19 booster,” said Piedmont Health Director Maria Almond, MD, MPH. “In light of the Omicron variant and holiday gatherings, we are encouraging everyone eligible for a vaccine or booster to get it this month and keep their friends and loved ones safe and healthy this holiday season.”

The clinics will offer first, second, additional primary and booster doses at no cost to the public. The Moderna vaccine and the single-dose Johnson & Johnson are available for anyone 18 and older. The Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine is available for anyone 5 and older. A parent or guardian must accompany anyone under 18.
