Chickahominy Health District and Partner Agencies Encourage Health Survey Participation
CHARLES CITY, Va. – The Chickahominy Health District has launched a Community Health Assessment (CHA), in partnership with various community-based organizations and agencies. A CHA Steering Committee has been formed to complete the county’s second health assessment. They are aiming to gather the community’s input via survey to better understand the health-related topics most important to the people living and working in the county. The Steering Committee is a group of representatives from several local and regional organizations including the Charles City County Public Schools, Heritage Library, Central Virginia Health Services, Parks and Recreation, Chickahominy Indian Tribe, Social Services, local food banks, Henrico Area Mental Health and Developmental Services, Thrive VA, and many more.
“The survey is a great way for us to hear directly from community members about what health needs or concerns they see each day for themselves and the people they care about,” said Emily Hines, the Population Health Planning and Improvement Coordinator for the Chickahominy Health District. “The results from the survey will be used to inform future community health programming and services for various organizations in the area.”
Community members who live and/or work in Charles City County are encouraged to participate in this process by taking the Charles City Community Health Survey. The survey can be accessed online at https://redcap.link/CharlesCityCHA2023. Paper copies of the survey are available at the Charles City Health Department and the Charles City County Social Services office. This survey will take 10 to 15 minutes to complete and will be available through September 17, 2023. All survey responses will be anonymous.
“There are no right or wrong answers – it is your opinion and experience that matters the most,” said Elizabeth Holt, Director of Charles City County Social Services.
The survey asks for input on various topics such as: access to care, mental health, quality of life, social connectedness, and transportation. A report will be share with the region in early 2024, and when complete, it will be available on Chickahominy Health District’s website. In addition to the survey, there will be many other ways over the next several months for community members to provide input and review local health information and data.
