Supporting heathy families from the start – Norfolk WIC assists all types of families, married or single, offering health and nutrition support and resources they need to grow and thrive.

Who can benefit:

  • Pregnant women
  • Infants
  • Children up to their fifth birthday
  • Breastfeeding mothers up to one year after delivering their baby
  • Postpartum women who are not breastfeeding up to six months after delivering their baby
  • Foster parents or other legal guardians of a child under 5 years of age

All families must live in Virginia and meet income eligibility guidelines. WIC has higher income guidelines than SNAP (EBT, Food Stamps) or Medicaid, so even if you don’t qualify for SNAP or Medicaid, you may still qualify for WIC.

What We Offer

  • Supplemental Foods – Receive WIC benefits for nutritious foods MORE INFO
  • Nutrition Education – Tips, recipes, and meal plans
  • Pregnancy Support – Guidance on prenatal care, healthy weight gain, nutrition, and safe activity
  • Breastfeeding Support – One-on-one help from trained staff, plus information on benefits and techniques (Call for assistance: 757-633-5942 or 757-633-7725)
  • Postpartum Care – Support for recovery, emotional well-being, and healthy eating after birth
  • Child Nutrition & Development – Resources for feeding and growth monitoring for infants, toddlers, and young children
  • Assessments and Referrals – For health, social, and welfare services
    • Immunizations and Physicals – Vaccines required to attend schools for children of all ages (Call for appointment: 757-683-2735)
