What is Public Health?
Public health promotes and protects the health of people and the communities where they live, learn, work and play. It is the practice of preventing disease and promoting good health through education and access to services. Public health departments work with other community agencies to provide many important community services. All health department offices are open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday – Friday. All offices are closed for state holidays. For specific health service times please call your local health department office.
