Your Story Can Help Virginia Families

We know that talking about postpartum depression and mental health during pregnancy or after birth can feel deeply personal — and sometimes difficult to share. The Virginia Department of Health wants you to know that your story matters, and we are committed to treating it with care, respect, and sensitivity.

We are inviting people who have experienced postpartum depression or other mental health challenges during or after pregnancy, as well as caregivers, partners, family members, and loved ones who have supported someone through these experiences, to share their stories and perspectives. Your privacy is important to us. We will not share your name or any identifying information.

Why we are interested in hearing from you

Our hope is to continue raising awareness about mental health during pregnancy and postpartum, while encouraging support for individuals, families, and communities impacted by these experiences. With permission, VDH may share themes and stories in reports to the General Assembly to help increase awareness, understanding, and funding for mental health resources and support services across the Commonwealth. Bringing lived experiences forward can help leaders better understand the real needs of Virginia families and the importance of accessible care and support.
