The Eastern Shore Health District works to protect public health during emergencies through planning, teamwork, education, and quick action.
The Emergency Preparedness and Response Program brings together local, regional, and state partners. They work together to prepare for events like disease outbreaks, bioterrorism, and other health emergencies. Funding comes from federal public health grants.

The Eastern Shore Health District has an Emergency Preparedness and Response Team. This team works with hospitals, government agencies, volunteers, and community partners during training and real emergencies.
The district uses a Health Alert Network (HAN). This system allows staff to be contacted 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. In an emergency, alerts can be sent to staff and partners within minutes.
The Health District has two volunteer programs:
CERT – Citizens Emergency Response Team
MRC – Eastern Shore Medical Reserve Corps
Volunteers are accepted and trainings occur on a regular basis. Please call for more information.
