ISPA Manual Changes

Regarding 2017 updates to ISPA manual:

Like CT, MA, RI, and others, Virginia’s Regulations for Bedding and Upholstered Furniture Inspection Program require the “Date of Delivery” item on the law label, though our Bedding Inspectors have not been actively enforcing this.  The Code of Virginia and the Regulations also require that text on a law label be at least 3 mm in height, and no section of the label text is exempt from this height requirement.

Due to the limited effect of these violations on public health, and the concerns raised by industry and representatives of IABFLO, Virginia does not intend to begin writing violation for these items.

Virginia is considering adopting formal guidance that would address industry concerns about these requirements.  If you have further concerns, please contact us at Olivia.McCormick@vdh.virginia.gov.
