Medications for Addiction Treatment - Care and Navigation


Medications for Addiction Treatment (MAT) can support a successful recovery for Roanoke area residents who want to reduce or eliminate use of opioids.

Benefits include:

  • Peer Recovery Specialist support through the first 90 days
  • Incentives to initiate and maintain treatment
  • Support group
  • Care coordination and referrals to other services including health care, residential treatment, domestic violence support, food access, transportation assistance

What can MAT do?

  • Immediately reduces overdose risk
  • Supports recovery without withdrawal or full abstinence
  • Enhances any recovery pathway, including Narcotics Anonymous (NA)
  • Offers a higher chance of successful recovery, with or without counseling

Who is eligible?

  • People who would like to reduce or eliminate use of opioids or other drugs
  • People who have never been on buprenorphine, methadone, or naltrexone OR who have stopped taking these medications 3+ months ago and would like to resume
