Roanoke City and Alleghany Health Districts (RCAHD) Family Planning program gives clients the opportunity to determine the number and spacing of their children by providing information, counseling and medical services.
A broad range of effective medical and educational services are available including:
- Access to many types of birth control methods
- Yearly sexual health exams
- Counseling
- Education about family planning and infertility
Services are available for people of all genders and sexual orientation. Costs for services are based on a sliding scale and some insurance plans are accepted.

Family Planning Services
The Family Planning Program offers the following services: Yearly exams including breast exams and Pap smears, screening for STIs, health education, and counseling. A range of birth control methods are provided as part of the yearly exam. Learn more about types of birth control:

Social security numbers are not required. No proof of residency in the county or city where the services are provided is required.
All services are confidential, even for minors. No information can be given to another person without the written consent of the person who received the services.
