Narcan® is the name-brand form of naloxone. Some people call all opioid reversal agent products Narcan®, similar to referring to all tissues as Kleenex, regardless of their actual brand name. Yes! Naloxone is a medication that reverses the effects of an opioid overdose. It has been approved for use for individuals of all ages. If a person is not experiencing opioid overdose, naloxone has no effect and will not harm the person who was given naloxone.
