WHAT VITAL RECORDS ARE AVAILABLE?
Virginia birth, death, marriage, and divorce certificates are available at all health departments within the West Piedmont Health District.
WHO IS ENTITLED TO A VITAL RECORD?
Immediate family members only – parents, current spouse, adult children, siblings, and grandparents. Identification is required for all vital record requests. See the link below for acceptable identification.

IS THERE A COST FOR A VITAL RECORD?
There is a $12.00 fee per certified copy of a vital record or for the search of a record when no certificate can be located or printed.
APPLICATIONS FOR A VITAL RECORD:
Local Health Department Employees can search for vital records in person only, provided the applicant pays the $12.00 fee per certified copy.

You may apply online for a Virginia vital record using the link provided, but you must pay the search and copy fees online. The certificates will then be mailed to the address you provide.

HOW CAN I GET A VITAL RECORD IN A HURRY?
Receiving your records from the VDH Vital Record office may take a few days. If you need your records faster, you can visit www.vitalchek.com or call 1.877.572.6333 (press option 2). Please note that there will be additional costs, and you will need a major credit card to use this service.
