Respiratory Hygiene

Respiratory hygiene is a way to prevent the spread of respiratory illnesses like the flu or the common cold. When a person coughs or sneezes, droplets containing pathogens are released into the air and can land in the mouths and noses of other people. They can also land on surfaces, and can be transmitted to others who touch those surfaces. Practicing good respiratory hygiene is critical to preventing these forms of transmission, which can be especially important in healthcare settings.
