• Connect with resources and support to help identify and find missing loved ones.
• Families of long-term missing persons may provide DNA samples, participate in interviews with experts and provide key information that can help make identifications.
• Law enforcement and local organizations will be on site to offer resources, answer questions and support those impacted.
• Emotional support services are also available to all attendees.
• There will be a candlelit vigil at the conclusion of the event. For participation, please submit a photo and the full name of your missing loved one to pro@vsp.virginia.gov.

What to Bring

• ID photos of the missing person.
• X-rays, dental records, medical records and other identifying documents.
• Attendance by two biologically related family members of the missing person to provide DNA samples (cheek swabs).
• Police report or police report number for reference.

Why?

• Virginia Missing Persons Day recognizes those who have been affected by the unexplained and unresolved disappearance of a loved one.
• The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner and the Virginia State Police are currently working to find over 300 missing individuals and identify 329 unidentified individuals.
• We stand in solidarity with those who are still missing and to support the families who continue searching. Virginia Missing Persons Day is about hope, awareness, and action—offering tools and resources that can help bring your loved one home.
