Background and Purpose
The Blue Ridge Health District is excited to launch the BRHD Outreach Network! This professional network hub will provide an opportunity for our District’s outreach professionals (Community Health Workers, Family Support Workers, Outreach Workers, Peer Recovery Specialists, and other similar positions) to network, collaborate, learn about other resources in the community, participate in trainings, and access continuing education opportunities. This initiative was identified as a need in our 2022 MAPP2Health Report, is an established strategy in our 2023 Community Health Improvement Plan, and is part of a 3-year Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) grant that BRHD received.
Training Needs Assessment (TNA)
A training needs assessment was sent out in August of 2023. The purpose of this training needs assessment (TNA) is to identify any needed or desired trainings for outreach workers, and other similar positions, to better serve in their roles throughout the community. In addition, the TNA will determine the preferred format and other logistics of future trainings and events, and we will work to minimize barriers to accessing future trainings. The results of this TNA will be used to create a schedule of training opportunities and networking events for 2024. If you are an employee or supervisor of a local organization conducting outreach work within the Blue Ridge Health District, please complete the TNA. Your input is needed! Results will be aggregated and shared anonymously at the Outreach Network Kick-Off event in October.
