The Onsite Sewage and Water Program of the Blue Ridge Health District is responsible for overseeing the adherence to state and local regulations governing sewage disposal systems and private well water supplies in Charlottesville/Albemarle and the neighboring counties of Louisa, Greene, Nelson, and Fluvanna). Our comprehensive oversight involves a range of activities, including:
- Assessing installation drawings and issuing construction permits.
- Conducting inspections of installed systems to ensure compliance with regulations.
- Offering homeowner education as required.
- Implementing enforcement actions when deemed necessary.
