Emergency Preparedness Basics/Local/State Emergency Notification Systems | Additional Resources
Be prepared for emergencies in 3 steps:
- Make a plan – Your family may not be together when a disaster strikes, so it is important to know which types of disasters could affect your area.
- Build a kit – Being prepared means having your own food, water, and other supplies to last for several days.
- Stay informed (Be Informed) – These days, emergency alerts can reach you in so many ways – WEA (Wireless Emergency Alerts) come to your cell phone, EAS (Emergency Alert System) on TV and Radio, NOAA weather radio alerts, mobile apps and more. It’s important to have several different ways you can receive emergency alerts, and to be armed with the knowledge you need before an emergency happens.
