Virginia WIC

The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) is a federal program funded by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and is administered by local health departments. The goal of Virginia WIC is to improve the health of pregnant women, infants and children through better nutrition and access to health care by providing free healthy foods, breastfeeding support, nutrition education, and referrals to other services. To be eligible, participants must live in the state of Virginia, meet income requirements, and fall under one of these qualified categories: 

  • Currently pregnant
  • Delivered a baby (or was pregnant) within the last 6 months
  • Breastfeeding an infant less than 12 months of age
  • Infant up to 1st birthday
  • Child under age 5

1. All participants must come into the clinic. Including all infants and children that are scheduled for an appointment.

2. Proof of identification. Bring 1 or more of the following for yourself AND your child(ren):

    • Driver's license
    • Photo ID
    • Passport/VISA
    • Birth certificate
    • Social Security card
    • Medicaid card/letter
    • Marriage license
    • Hospital/Crib card (for newborns)
    • School records

3. Proof of income for the FAMILY. Bring 1 or more of the following:

    • Paystub (no older than 30d)
    • W-2 or tax return
    • Child Support
    • SNAP/Social Security/Disability statement
    • Unemployment Benefits
    • Free or Reduced Lunch letter
    • Medicaid card/letter

4. Proof of residency. Bring 1 or more of the following:

    • Utility bill
    • Mortgage/Lease statement
    • Rent receipt
    • VA driver's license
