Epidemiology & Emergency Preparedness

Epidemiology

The Central Virginia Health District’s Epidemiology Department monitors reportable diseases and outbreaks, investigating cases to identify sources and prevent spread. They assess exposures, educate the public and healthcare providers on disease transmission and prevention, and use surveillance data to detect emerging threats. Their work is essential for controlling infectious diseases and protecting community health.
