Well & Septic Construction Permit Application Process

How to Apply for Septic and/or Well Permit

  • A property that is not served by public sewer or a public water system requires permitting by the Virginia Department of Health. The property owner or agent must obtain a permit to construct a sewage disposal system and private well before the county will issue a building permit. A construction permit authorizes the installation of an Onsite Sewage Disposal System and/or well of a specific design and location. This permit expires 18 months after issuance. Well/Septic Application
