Dental Program

mom with kids and nurse at dentistOur dental team provides a quality dental service, including preventive and restorative care, to children ages 0-18. Our primary goal is dental awareness, with an emphasis on improving knowledge of preventive dentistry. These goals and objectives are met by not only a clinical presence in the area but by interagency activities. Our approach incorporates educating the child/parents/guardians in oral hygiene and nutrition while emphasizing the importance of oral health in overall health and wellness.

Any child which qualifies for free lunch in the public school system qualifies for free services, plus we accept the state insurance programs of Medicaid, Va. Premier and FAMIS . Families who do not qualify for free lunch or state insurance may be eligible for a reduced fee for service.

With a full time staff of one dentist and two dental assistants, we able to provide service to approximately 1,800 children per year. In addition to the direct services we provide, the dental team is active in school screenings which aid in identifying dental needs within the community.

Within the community, the dental team is partnered with WIC, CHIP, Kuumba, Carilion Dental Care, Bradley Free Clinic, the local school system and Virginia Western Community College’s School of Dental Hygiene. By partnering with community agencies, our efforts are broadened and the effectiveness of the treatments provided are enhanced.
