Chickahominy Regional Medical Reserve Corps (CR-MRC)

The CR-MRC Mission

To sustain a community-based volunteer organization which provides education to the public on health and safety; and to support the Chickahominy Health District in emergency preparedness, mitigation, and response.

About the CR-MRC

Chickahominy Regional Medical Reserve Corps promotes a partnership between professional emergency personnel and the people they serve. If a disaster overwhelms or delays a community's professional emergency response, CR-MRC volunteers may assist by applying the response and organizational skills they learned during training.

Homeland Security began promoting the nationwide use of MRCs as a response to man-made disasters but has been useful in natural disasters as well.  CR-MRC volunteers maintain and refine their skills by participating in exercises ad activities. Supplemental training is offered live and on-line to further their skills.  Members can volunteer for projects that improve community emergency preparedness.

The goal is to train members, both medical professionals and other volunteers, in response skills. These skills can help save and sustain lives following any disaster or emergency in our area.
