Henrico Temporary Foodservice Permit

All persons serving food to the public must have a permit for each temporary event.  In addition to the permit, a $20 permit fee will be charged to the temporary food establishment permit holder for each permit he or she acquires during the year, up to a total of $100 per year.  Additional fees will not be charged for future temporary permits during the calendar year in the Commonwealth of Virginia (January 1st  through December 31st).  The permit holder should retain the receipt showing that the fee has been paid and present it to local health departments when he or she applies for permits later in the year.  A vendor with multiple food units pays one fee for each unit up to $100.

A permit application must be submitted for each unit (i.e., tent, booth, etc.) that will operate at the temporary event. The permit fee or proof of previous payment must be sent with the application for permit.  Checks or money orders should be made payable to Henrico Health Department. Applications must be submitted to the Health Department at least ten days prior to the event.The person in charge must also demonstrate knowledge by being a certified food protection manager or by responding correctly to the Environmental Health Specialist’s questions as they relate to the specific food operation.Please be advised that temporary food permits will not be issued until fees are paid or proof of previous payment is shown and food safety knowledge has been demonstrated. Applications

Temporary Food Permit Application
Food vendors must complete and submit the Temporary Food Permit Application with a check for $20.00 per unit up to $100 made payable to Henrico Health Department at least 10 days prior to event.

Temporary Event Coordinator Application
This application is submitted by the organizer or coordinator of an event to alert the local health department of the dates and times of a proposed event, how many food vendors will be invited, and important event issues such as the provision of potable water and wastewater disposal. The coordinator is responsible for timely submission of all applications.
