You can get your yearly flu vaccine at all health departments within the Thomas Jefferson Health District. The health department bills Medicaid, Medicare, Medicare HMO and many private insurance providers. Please bring proof of coverage. Otherwise, the cost is $30.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommend that everyone over the age of six months get the flu vaccine to reduce the risk of getting sick from the flu and spreading the illness to others, especially: children younger than 5 years; adults 65 years of age and older; pregnant women; and those with certain medical conditions. It is important to get a flu vaccine even if you received one last year.
