There are
26 Public Health School Nurses who provide services for
59 schools. Each nurse is assigned from one to three schools
with each school receiving the services of the public
health nurse at least one day per week. The nurse assists
students, families and staff with health-related issues.
If the nurse is unable to meet the health needs directly,
referrals are made to other community resources.
Each public
health school nurse has an office at the Health Department
and one in their school. Their office at the school
is usually separate from the "Clinic". The
nurse may be contacted by students, parents, school
staff or other community members through the school
or through the health department by calling (804) 748-1633.
