Health Services: HIV/AIDS:
A confidential HIV test site which includes pre- and post-test counseling, as well as the blood test. HIV-positive persons who have no health insurance or Medicaid and who are medically indigent may receive through the State AIDS Drug Program. Primary medical care is provided to county residents who are in early stage of HIV infection through money granted by the Ryan White Care Act. Individuals must meet financial criteria to qualify for this program. Primary medical care includes doctor visits, laboratory tests, diagnostic tests and prescriptions. Animal Bites/ Rabies:
All animal bites and any animals suspected of having rabies should also be reported to the Loudoun Department of Public Health. The Health Department is responsible for confining domestic animals that bite/expose humans, and for testing animals that are potentially rabid. Rabies vaccinations for humans who must be protected against rabies (ex. veterinary staff) or who have been potentially exposed to rabies are available at the Health Department and are available to all income brackets. Child Health Program :
Provides pediatric services, including physical exams, health screening tests, immunizations, referrals to childrens specialty programs, teaching of healthful practices and counseling. Home visits are provided for follow-up and in-depth counseling. Available for all income brackets. Telephone 703-777-0236.

Dental Health :
Provides a variety of dental services, including dental referrals, oral cancer screenings, information on dental health techniques, and dental screening in Loudoun County Schools. Services for citizens up to the age of 21 include oral hygiene instruction, fluorides, dental sealants, diagnostic X-rays, restorative services, minor oral surgery and referrals for other dental work. Family Planning :
Provides family planning services including physical examinations, pregnancy and other laboratory testing services, and birth control methods available to all income brackets. Telephone: 703-777-0236.

Groundwater Contamination :
Contaminated groundwater threatens drinking water supplies and places public health at risk. Any suspected cases of groundwater contamination should be reported to the Loudoun Health District,which coordinates pollution prevention efforts and cleanup with local and state agencies. Maternity Care:
Provides prenatal and postnatal care for maternity patients who live in Loudoun County and meet income eligibility. Services include physical exams, laboratory tests, teaching, counseling, and childbirth classes. Telephone 703-7770-0236.

HEALTH EDUCATION:
Provides information on illness prevention, wellness, chronic diseases, communicable diseases, environmental health issues, and many other health-related subjects. This service is available upon request for groups, classes, and organizations. Telephone 703-777-0236.

Health Testing :
Conducts a variety of screening services for health-related conditions, including blood pressure, HIV antibody (AIDS), and blood sugar testing, referral and counseling. Available to all income brackets. Telephone 703-777-0236. Telephone 703-777-0234 for environmental subjects.

Immunizations:
Provides immunizations to help protect the public from infections and communicable diseases. Childhood immunizations are available on a walk-in basis weekdays. Travel immunizations are available by appointment. Routine childhood immunizations are at no cost to the public. Telephone 703-777-0236.

Nutrition:
Offers diet counseling and nutrition evaluation, and provides individual a group nutritional counseling for high-risk maternity, family planning and pediatric patients for all income brackets. Offers food supplements and nutritional services to children under age five and women who are pregnant or lactating and meet the medical, nutritional and income guidelines. Telephone 703-777-0236.

Pest Control :
Enforces nuisance regulations and provides expert advice on insect, rodent and similar environmental problems. Telephone 703-777-0234.

Public Food Service :
Restaurants, public and private shool cafeterias, seasonal, temporary, and other food services establishments are inspected by the Health Department and regulated to prevent foodborne disease and the sale of unwholesome products. Telephone 703-777-0234.

Public Heath Nursing:
Provides services in homes, schools, and communities to maintain wellness, prevent illness or injury, and assist in rehabilitation. Telephone 703-777-0236.

Public Lodging and Swimming Facilities:
The Health Department inspects and permits motels, hotels, inns, and bed & breakfasts. Swimming pools at motels, hotels, apartment complexes, and swim clubs are also regulated for safety and cleanliness. Telephone 703-777-0234.

Sewage Disposal (On Site):
To protect the groundwater in rural areas of the county, the Loudoun Health District evaluates sites proposed for development utilizing on-site sewage disposal systems. If the sites are suitable, the department issues permits. Telephone 703-777-0234.

Sexually Transmitted Disease :
Provides confidential diagnosis and treatment of sexually transmitted diseases at no cost. Telephone 703-777-0236.

Tuberculosis Control :
Provides tuberculosis (TB) testing, screening, treatment and consultation for all income brackets. Tuberculosis skin tests are available Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday on a walk-in basis. Telephone 703-777-0236.

Water Supply (On Site) :
New wells require a permit from the Health Department, which conducts evaluations to make sure the wells are properly located and constructed. The department inspects and tests the bacteriological quality of wells and groundwater to assure that the water is safe, and that there is an adequate water supply. Telephone 703-777-0234.
