Health Services Especially for Women


Family Planning - We offer birth control information, methods of birth control, counseling, and physical exams. All services are strictly confidential. Appointment required. You may contact your local health department for service times and appointments.

Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Program – A supplemental nutrition program and nutrition counseling. Services: Children 0-5 years of age, pregnant women, women until child is 6 months old, or up to 1 year if fully breast feeding. Provide financial assistance with food and formula. Baby Care - Home visiting program for pregnant women and infants up to age 2. Assessments are done to determine needs. Appointments required. You may contact your local health department for service times and appointments.

Pregnancy Testing - Available with education, counseling and referrals. Call your local health department for times.

Every Women’s Life (EWL) – Screenings for breast and cervical cancer. PAP, mammogram, breast exams, and cervical cancer tests. Must meet enrollment guidelines. Limited enrollment. Ages 18-39 with symptoms and 40- 64. Contact your local health department for more information. You may go to http://www.vahealth.org/ewl for more information.

Wise Women – Required to be a participant of the EWL Program. Health screenings: cholesterol, glucose and hemoglobin. Follows same guidelines as EWL. Contact the local health department for more information. You may go to http://www.vahealth.org/ewl for more information.
