Lord Fairfax Health District Offers Free COVID-19 Testing in Front Royal

FRONT ROYAL, Va. — The Virginia Department of Health’s Lord Fairfax Health District will offer three free COVID-19 testing events in Front Royal. Testing will be offered on Wednesdays, January 19 and 26 and February 2 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Warren County Health and Human Services Complex located at 465 West 15th St. Attendees should use the 15th St. gymnasium entrance. more>>

Rabid Raccoon Found in Sewells Gardens Neighborhood of Norfolk

NORFOLK, Va. – A raccoon in Norfolk has tested positive for rabies. The sick raccoon was found along the 900 block of South Quail St in the Sewells Gardens neighborhood on January 11, 2022.  The raccoon subsequently died and was sent to the Virginia Department of Consolidated Laboratory Services in Richmond for testing. It was reported positive for rabies on January 13, 2022. There are no known human or domestic animal exposures at this time; however if you have been bitten or scratched by a raccoon in this area, please contact the Norfolk Department of Public Health at 757-683-2712. more>>

Piedmont Health District Offers Additional COVID-19 Vaccination Clinics in Farmville, Lunenburg County

FARMVILLE, Va. – The Virginia Department of Health’s Piedmont Health District will offer two additional COVID-19 vaccination clinics next week.  The first clinic will be Tuesday, January 18 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Prince Edward-Farmville Youth Association Gymnasium located at 2750 Layne St., Farmville.  The second clinic will be Wednesday, January 19 from 3 to 6 p.m. at Victoria Railroad Park located at 1403 Firehouse Rd. in Victoria. more>>

Southside Health District Offers Pfizer Booster Shots for 12-15 Year Olds

HALIFAX, Va. – Effective immediately, the Virginia Department of Health’s Southside Health District will offer Pfizer BioNTech booster shots for 12 to 15 year olds. Additionally, 5 to 11-year-old vaccine recipients who are moderately or severely immunocompromised are eligible to receive a third dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine 28 days after the second dose. more>>
