Covid Immunizations

  • People aged 6 months and older can receive the 2025–2026 COVID-19 vaccines based on individual-based decision-making with a healthcare provider. This includes pharmacists. 
    • In Virginia, people aged 3 years and older may receive a COVID-19 vaccine at a pharmacy without a prescription.
    • Some pharmacies do not vaccinate young children – so check with them first about age requirements. 
  • Other professional organizations have published their COVID-19 recommendations that differ from CDC’s recommendations. These organizations include: 
  • People interested in receiving the COVID-19 vaccine should talk to a healthcare provider. 
  • Read the Virginia Department of Health COVID-19 vaccine FAQs.
  • The COVID-19 vaccine helps protect you from severe disease, hospitalization, and death.
  • It is especially important to get your 2025–2026 COVID-19 vaccine if you are ages 65 and older or are at high risk for severe COVID-19.
  • Vaccine protection decreases over time, so it is important to stay up to date with your COVID-19 vaccine.
