EMS Week is May 15-21, 2016

“EMS Strong – Called to Care”

Virginians rely on Emergency Medical Services (EMS) personnel to respond to the call for help and to provide quality prehospital care. Last year, just over 1.4 million EMS calls were documented in Virginia's Web-based, electronic patient care data collection system.

As proclaimed by Governor Terence R. McAuliffe, May 15-21, will be observed as EMS Week in Virginia. It celebrates EMS responders' heroic efforts and commitment to saving lives. EMS for Children Day is May 18 and it raises awareness of pediatric health and safety.

During this special week, we recognize the dedication of nearly 35,000 EMS providers and more than 640 agencies in Virginia. We commend their continued commitment to the citizens of the Commonwealth and to the EMS system. We are especially thankful for their life-saving efforts, not just during this week but every day!

Please join us in recognizing the inspiring contributions of our extraordinary EMS providers, as we thank them for their dedication to serving their neighbors and communities.
