The Virginia Office of EMS (OEMS) Patient Care Information System is comprised of the Virginia Statewide Trauma Registry (VSTR) and the Virginia Pre-Hospital Information Bridge (VPHIB). All licensed EMS agencies and hospitals in Virginia are mandated by the Code of Virginia to report the minimum required data set to the OEMS (§32.1-116.1). The VSTR and VPHIB are used to assist with system planning and evaluation, to facilitate EMS grants management, to support legislative inquiries, to contribute to other state and national databases, to monitor triage programs, and more.
